Review:
Tim: "Scrubs" is my favorite sitcom of all time. It's endlessly rewatchable, hilarious, and entertaining. It's a show that has been influential in my own life. I've seen almost every episode of the first 8 seasons multiple times. I could watch nearly any episode a dozen times and still enjoy it. It's the most consistently funny, entertaining 30 minute show I've ever seen. I love how the series balances humor with some truly heartfelt moments. Some of the most powerfully emotional moments I have seen on television have occurred on this show. It's absolutely one of my favorites.

Over the years, J.D., Turk, Dr. Cox, Elliot, and Carla have become like family to me. I know each of the characters so incredibly well. The show does a fantastic job of setting up the supporting characters as well- Dr. Kelso, Ted, Doug, Nurse Roberts, the Janitor. Each of them are integral parts of what makes this show so memorable and funny. "Scrubs" has some of the best characters developed on television.

I wish I could list all of my favorite moments from this show, but there's absolutely no way. It would take hours. A few just off the top of my head- Turk singing the Safety Dance, most of J.D./The Janitor's confrontations, Dr. Cox's hilarious rants, the Wizard of Oz episode, Turk dancing to Poison. I could go on and on- so many of my favorite funny moments in all of television took place on this show. So much of this series was just pure joy to watch.

While I love the characters, John C. McGinley has to be singled out for his portrayal of Dr. Perry Cox. This was the role McGinley was born to play. He steals every scene he's in and emerged as the most memorable, complex, fascinating part of the series. Zach Braff was great as J.D., Donald Faison was great as Turk, but McGinley made this series something special. His portrayal of Dr. Cox is one of my favorites of any television series ever. It's a crime he wasn't recognized more for his work, because it's truly outstanding.

Now, while I love "Scrubs", it's not without its faults. The show should have ended after 8 seasons. The 9th season is really a spinoff and it's nearly unwatchable. It's not "Scrubs", it's some other show that wasn't funny, clever, and lost the soul of the original series. The main show itself did suffer some drops in quality as the series went on. J.D. and Turk's childish behavior was hilarious when they started, but became silly as they aged. The series wisely tries to address this in the later seasons, but it still detracted from the quality of the show.

Like every series that runs 9 seasons, "Scrubs" had its ups and downs. The 5th season was the pinnacle in my mind- that season had so many of the classic, funniest bits. I believe that every television series you watch changes you in some way, but "Scrubs" was instrumental to me. I rewatched the entire first season when I got my first "real" job. It made a huge difference to me- a reminder that everyone who starts a career feels as scared, confused, and overwhelmed as I did. This series impacted me in ways very few others have done. I love, love, love "Scrubs".
