Summary: Political intrigue and betrayal threaten to tear apart the Inhuman population living on the moon.

Review:
Tim: I feel a mix of revulsion and ambivalence towards "Inhumans", easily one of the worst televisions shows I've ever suffered through. I'm thankful the season was given a merciful death after the first season. What makes me so angry about this show is that it represents the first outright bomb of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. True, the television and film divisions have strayed further and further apart, but to this day, I still like every single movie in the MCU. The same could be said of the television branch of the MCU. No longer. There's nearly no redeeming qualities to anything in this film. It's quite simply a terrible show.

I also have to say this film has caused me to now despise Scott Buck, and that feeling will never go away. The guy is an awful showrunner. He was responsible for some of the weaker episodes of "Dexter", created the disappointing "Iron Fist" and now delivered this absolute garbage television show. I'm so angry that he produced something so terrible.

It's so difficult to know where to start with this series. The visual effects budget wasn't big enough, so the whole show just looks cheap. That isn't helpful when the main characters all live on the moon. It's such an obvious money-saving device to have them shuttle off to Earth. The costumes were atrocious. They looked godawful in all the promo images- I still remember the laughter and scorn heaped upon them. I heard them described as bad cosplay and I couldn't agree more. The writing was moronic and made no sense. In every episode, I would cringe and groan at the awful dialogue these actors were forced to utter. It caused me pain. The action scenes were boring and nothing seemed to matter. It felt impossible to care about any of the characters. The bad guy kind of had a point, so it was difficult to know who to root for. It felt like we were supposed to root for the "good guys" because the writers wanted us to. Not because the show offered us any compelling reason for why we should. The whole thing was a disgrace and I'm still angry a show like this was released upon the unsuspecting public.

The cast left a great deal to be desired. It was headlined by Anson Mount, who plays a character whose voice has devastating consequences. That means he says nothing the entire show. That was actually a huge benefit for him because it leaves him relatively unscathed. He was fine in his performance. Serinda Swan was awful as Medusa. I kept thinking, "She is an actual actress?" Her performance was just so bad and her costume and the CGI hair/bald look made her one of the more ridiculous characters in a show filled with ridiculous characters. I like Ken Leung and he actually did a decent job. He was one of the better characters on the show. Eme Ikwuakor was likewise decent. Isabelle Cornish gave routinely awful performances. I'm not sure what percentage of this was due to a lack of acting talent and what percentage was just awful direction, but she wasn't believable in the least. Iwan Rheon is a good actor and it would have been a great part for his to play the malevolent Maximus, but sadly, this doesn't pay off. It felt like a cheap attempt to replicate his unforgettable "Game of Thrones" character, which leaves this one feeling over-the-top and silly. It doesn't help that Maximus actually has some good points, which didn't make him a more complex villain, it just felt confusing to depict him as this ultra-evil character. I always like seeing Henry Ian Cusick, but I was bummed he was saddled with a pointless character in a disappointing show. I could go on with the cast, but why bother? Not a single one of them is very good.

"Inhumans" is a bitter disappointment and a total failure. I didn't enjoy a single episode of this unfortunate series, and this is coming from a massive Marvel fan. I only hope Marvel Television learns something from this, which sadly represents the first true failure in their booming global empire. This is a series that is best forgotten, and quickly.
