Review:
Tim: Marvel's second One-Shot short is entertaining and fun, but it's mostly meaningless. This is probably my least favorite of these short films. There's just nothing of substance that occurs during this film. With a run time of only four minutes, not much can happen.
The one benefit to this film is that it gives us more time with Coulson, which is always a good thing. He's such a great character, and he's played so well by Gregg that any time with him is positive. I will say that I didn't love how he was portrayed in this film- his Matrix style moves felt very out of place for the character as we've come to know him. That part just felt too outlandish to me. Still, it was fun seeing him calm and collected in a potentially deadly situation. Clearly, you shouldn't mess with SHIELD.
There's really not a lot to say about this film. It's a well directed, entertaining little short. Unfortunately, it doesn't really add anything to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, other than the pleasure of seeing Coulson in action. I enjoyed the short, but I sincerely hope future One-Shot films actually do more- either by opening the universe up or advancing story lines in some way. I had fun with this, but I wanted more.
