Review:

Tim: This film has been called the first "real" movie, as it was apparently the firs one ever showed in public. I don't have any means of truly validating that, but it is impressive nonetheless.

This film directed by Louis Lumiere, is important as one of the earliest films ever made. That being said, it isn't particularly thrilling. The film is less than a minute long, and it features factory workers leaving the factory, and walking past the camera. There's not much plot in this documentary short.

What's interesting is that it gives you a view back in time, to 1895. That's pretty amazing, and I loved seeing the clothing, the bicycles, and everything else. I love that this was an early, influential film.

What is most fascinating to me is that there are actually 3 different versions of this film. There's the "One-Horse", "Two-Horse", and "No-Horse" versions. It's pretty self-explanatory- in one version, no horse appears, in another, a carriage is pulled by one horse, and in the third version, the carriage is pulled by two horses. I've seen all 3 version, but I watched the "No-Horse" version three times.

All in all, this isn't a film for anyone but the most diehard film fans. It's funny to see this film and think about where the world of cinema went subsequently.
