Review:
Tim: The Adventures of Andre and Wally B. is noteworthy because it is the very first Pixar short, created way back in 1984. It's kind of amazing to watch this short today, because the animation seems ancient. And yet, when this short film was first released, the computer animation was groundbreaking when it first came out. It's stunning to think about how far animation has come in such a short amount of time.
There's not much to the story of this two minute short. Andre (who is maybe an android?) wakes up in the forest and encounters a pesky bee. There's a few hijinks that ensue. This short is really not about the story, though- it's about the cutting edge computer animation that brought this story to life.
Honestly, this film isn't especially entertaining, even though it's an important moment in animation and in the history of Pixar (although the film was made at Lucasfilm) and animator John Lasseter.
This short is worth seeing if you're a fan of Pixar and want to understand the early days of computer animation. It's entertaining from a historical perspective, even though it's short (haha) on entertainment.
