Review:
Tim: Acrobatty Bunny is a fairly humorous Looney Tunes short. In this one, Bugs Bunny is minding his own business when a circus comes and takes up the space right above his hole. He comes face-to-face with a lion and well, as you might expect, that means war.
There isn't anything especially original about this short, but it puts Bugs into the perfect situation. Bugs Bunny is such a great character because we love to see him pitted against an opponent and come out on top. That's exactly what happens here. Bugs faces off against a lion and it's this battle that creates the entertainment and the interest. Normally, you wouldn't bet on a rabbit to outfox a lion, but that's exactly what happens. It's genuinely fun to see Bugs routinely outsmart the lion.
The gags are a bit violent, but that was more acceptable in children's films in the 1940s. These are definitely prevalent, but it's also fun to see Bugs use his wits to out think the lion. It's all zany and in good fun, and it makes the 8 minute run time go fairly quickly.
This is also helped by the relentlessness of the short. It never takes a minute to breathe, going from one gag to the next. That keeps you entertained and the minutes just seem to disappear. This is definitely one of the better Looney Tunes shorts starring Bugs Bunny.
