Summary: 007 James Bond (Sean Connery) must stop the SPECTRE Organization from starting another world war from their base in Japan.

Review:

Tim: This is a somewhat different Bond film because our hero is in Toyko, Japan and surrounding areas. The plot is slightly more complex than earlier films, in that Bond has to figure out who launched a rocket into space or some such thing. There is also some small story about Bond faking his own death. It isn't too interesting.

The film does have its great moments. The helicopter fight scene is pretty intense. I also really enjoyed the whole ninja sequence.

This film continues a trend toward bigger and more fantastic Bond adventures. While 007 is tracking down a space rocket, in the larger picture, he is trying to stop a war between the United States and the Soviet Union.

One of the highlights of the film is that we finally get to see the face of SPECTRE's head honcho, Number One.

You Only Live Twice s not the most memorable or best addition to the Bond franchise. However, although a bit weak, it is still a good addition to the series and offers quite a few strong moments. It certainly continues the streak of good Bond movies and further cements Connery's status as the James Bond of our minds and hearts.
