Review:
Tim: For anyone who watched and loved the television show (full disclosure- I love it), this film is an absolute must-see. The show was so important and had such a cultural impact for so many years that it definitely deserved a transition to the big screen. While many television shows don't deserve a movie, this is one that does.

Chris Carter does a good job bringing the television show to the silver screen. He was smart enough to write the screenplay, but not direct. He is a great director, but Rob Bowman was probably the right man for the job. Oftentimes, the transition from small screen to the big screen is a daunting task, and has often been met with failure. However, all of the great aspects of the show are still here, plus big budget special effects and on a much wider and more epic scale.

The movie itself, while may not be perfect, is spared some criticism because of the vast amount of goodwill the television show has built up. The movie probably can't stand alone as a film, but in relation to the show, it is excellent. To really appreciate the film, you'll have to be a fan of the show first. If you are a fan, you get to see Mulder and Scully on the big screen, in a longer and more in-depth and more exciting storyline. What more could you ask for?

The film could be considered a glorified episode of the television series, but I don't find this argument persuasive. X-Files fans will enjoy the movie. Plus, the cast is excellent, especially Duchovny and Anderson, who play their famous roles wonderfully. This is a very entertaining movie, and I liked it.
