Review:

Tim: This is a very interesting movie with quite a few surprises. James Stewart is tracking down his father's murderer and trying to get back his 1 in 1000 Winchester '73. The film works so well because Stewart is trying to find a murderer at the same time that his Winchester changes hands multiple times through a diverse group of people. These two stories moving simultaneously make for a very interesting film.

The movie is quick-paced and has a diverse and very strong cast. Quite a lot happens back and forth as our characters slowly come together for a very exciting conclusion.

Stewart is terrific as usual. He makes for an ideal leading man and is incredibly likeable. He is so fun to watch. Shelley Winters is actually pretty enjoyable as well. Watch for Tony Curtis in one of his first roles.

This is one of Stewart's best Westerns. There is so much going on at all times, which is refreshingly different from many of Stewart's more straightforward and simply films.

Winchester '73 simply works as a movie. It has a great cast, exciting action and adventure, and a thrilling story. You will really enjoy this movie. It is extremely well made and simply a classic.
