Review:
Tim: This is a monstrously terrible film. I've often said Martin Lawrence is one of the most hit-or-miss actors in Hollywood, and this stinker is definitely a miss.
Lawrence contributes practically nothing to the film. He is incredibly unfunny. Danny DeVito is absurd and has further sunk in career into the dark abyss towards which it incresingly seems to move. Even normally reliable John Leguizamp isn't very good, either. The cast is a huge disappointment.
The most interesting (and I use that word loosely) is the point the film tries to make but fails- the incredible lengths two men may go to when their pride is at stake, even if its over something insignificant like a cheap ring. But, this film doesn't even really make that point... or perhaps it does, but I was so enamored with the awfulness of the film that it was hard to pull it out.
Strangely enough, I do like the inspired pairing of Lawrence and DeVito. They really should have had enough chemistry to pull a comedy off, but they so miserably fail to live up to anything you'd expect.
All in all, this is a pretty boring, dull, and unfunny film. You might be asking, "well, with this film, whats the worst that could happen?" I'll tell you. The worst that could happen would be having to see this film ever again.
