Review:
Tim: Despite the utter stupidity of this film, you can't help finding it funny and entertaining. The film should have followed the normal path from Saturday Night Live skit to crappy movie, but instead proved it is a lot funnier and better than many people wanted to give it credit.
Wayne's World is such a funny and original movie. SNL is hilarious as a television show, and this film represents the best transition between skit and feature film.
Mike Myers plays his character exactly as he needs to be played. This can be said of Dana Carvey, too. Both actors were intelligent enough to realize this film would only be a small comedy, and restrained themselves from trying to be something they were not. They act in this film exactly as they act on television, and the film succeeds because of it.
Wayne's World has some pretty intelligent humor (even if it is hidden beneath a layer of seeming stupidity) and a great deal of quirky comedy. The plot is pretty ridiculous and will trouble you if you try to follow it too closely. But, hey, this is a movie based on a short comedy skit, so we're not looking to capture the Academy Award here. This film is a small, decent comedy and is worth checking out.
