Review:

Tim: For some reason, I just could not get myself excited about this movie. When I finally saw it, I thoroughly enjoyed it, but I still wasn't quite blown away. The movie is well made and enjoyable, a nd most people will derive a great deal of enjoyment from the film.

I am a big fan of people going up against totalitarian societies, and this is an interesting battle being waged. In the post-9/11 world, I applaud this film for making its hero a terrorist. In the war against extremist terrorists, it is often forgotten that the act of disobedience is not inherently evil, if a man (or woman) stands up for justice in the face of tyranny. That is depicted well throughout the film.

Hugo Weaving has the difficult job of playing "V," and we never get to see his face. This made is job much more difficult, but he still gets through to the audience with his movements, and especially with his voice. Natalie Portman throws in a pretty good performance. I am not head over heels about her acting abilities like some people, but she is a solid actor and gives another good performance here.

V for Vendetta is a good movie. It is entertaining, exciting, and has quite an explosive third act. Best of all, the film leaves you feeling supremely satisfied- that feeling of satisfaction results when you realize that you have seen a movie made well and with care, and that is a tremendous feeling to have. Remember, remember, the fifth of November.
