Review:

Tim: I wasn't sure how well I liked this movie until the very end. That is when Clint Eastwood the director pulls his movie all together, and you realize the film you just watched was nothing less than amazing. Unforgiven is the definitive Western. It contains all the important themes of the genre, stars one of the best Western actors of all time (obviously, Eastwood), and has a general feels that this is the epitome of the genre.

Eastwood directs films that allow his actors to go all out in their performances. Not only is he great himself on screen, but Morgan Freeman is excellent, and Gene Hackman won a Best Supporting Actor Oscar for his performance. You have nothing to worry about in regards to the cast.

This film has some very powerful themes, including redemption, friendship, faithfulness, and morality (a gunslinger's morality, but morals no less).

The movie becomes great when Eastwood embarks on his personal revenge mission. Watch for the great exchange- Hackman: "You just shot an unarmed man." Eastwoood- "He should have armed himself." The remainder of the film is just as enjoyable.

Unforgiven is one of the genre's best films and an all around success. You should really enjoy this movie.
