Summary: A Los Angeles detective (Ashley Judd) is a little too close to her current murder spree case- each of the three victims are men she recently slept with. As her investigation continues, with the help of her new partner (Andy Garcia) and the police commissioner (Samuel L. Jackson), it looks more and more like she herslef is the killer.

Review:

Tim: Twisted is so similar to the 8,152 crime-thrillers that Ashley Judd has already made that it almost makes me sick. Someone needs to tell her that being pigeon-holed is not a good thing. Sure, she's played roles in films like Someone Like You and Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood, but for every other type of film she's made, she has 3 cop thrillers to her credit. Enough is enough, I can't keep track of them all.

To make matters worse, Twisted isn't even a good movie. It is predictable, silly, and no different from any type of cop thriller, starring Judd or not. Watching the film, I could have sworn I'd seen it before. That is because it is a cookie cutter film with no brains. No one in this production seems to have put any effort into this film and that shows up on screen.

Samuel L. Jackson also really needs to learn to show some discretion in his selection of which projects of which to be a part. He seems to grab for every role available to him, rather than selecting worthwhile ones.

Sure, there are a few intense moments and a few times when you try to convince yourself that some twist will be coming (because there is no way the film is that easy to figure out. Unfortunately, yes, it is.

Twisted is a lazy attempt to make a film and the laziness is evident in the actors, the director, and the producers. If you are in the mood for a cop/crime/thriller, Judd has made plenty of those available, so pass this one by and choose from another of the six million films exactly like it.
