Review:

Tim: It is very interesting to see how Goldfinger impacted the Bond series. In this, the first film after that one, you can definitely see its influences on the franchise.

Thunderball is a very entertaining film. James Bond is once again surrounded by beautiful women, murderous vilians, and thrilling action sequences. His wit and humor are as sharp as always.

This film is good because we once again see the SPECTRE organization. Bond has his hands full, trying to track down two missing/stolen nucelar weapons before the thieves detonate them.

Sean Connery is just so amazing as Bond. He really captures the darker, cruel side of Bond that his successors could never match. He makes use of some hilarious one-liners. His charasmatic delivery is at its best here. Watch for the "I did it for Queen and country. I hope you know I took no pleasure in it" line. It is a classic.

Thunderball's underwater scenes are exciting and offer an interesting change of pace. The underwater battle at the end is pure genius. I've never seen anything like it before.

It is interesting to note that with the fourth installment, at the midway point in the 1960s, Bond is with three women, slightly down from previous films. His total after four films stands at- Women Count: 14. I'm interested to see how this changes as the 60s wrap up.

Thunderball is yet another excellent addition into the James Bond franchise. It is a classic and no Bond fan is truly one until he or she has seen this film.
