Review:
Tim: Now, I'm not a huge fan of Disney movies. I mean, yeah they are good and all that, but if you're not eleven, its easy to find problems and boredom with many of the movies. When I heard Disney made this movie, i was a little disappointed. However, I must say I was quite impressed. I was glad to see the film had some level of violence (hey, it's entertaining). And, while the film is still safe to take the kids to, it'll have just enough violence to entertain most adults throughout the film.
The cast was excellent. Chris O'Donnell did a very good job. He wasn't superb, but had several great scenes, and was enjoyable to watch throughout. I'm not a huge fan of Kiefer Sutherland, but he did a decent job throughout the film. He has his moments, but isn't all that great, either. Charlie Sheen did a good job, although he didn't have all that much screen time. I thought it was humorous and ironic that he was the religious one out of the bunch, but hey, it's Disney. Oliver Platt on the other hand, was terrific. He is such a funny actor, and he sparkled in this film. He stole nearly every scene he was in, and was just incredible to watch. His performance alone is worth checking this film out.
Tim Curry is a classic bad guy, and gives another wonderful performance here. He has moments of pure villainy in which you just love to hate him. You can tell he takes the part seriously, and enjoys being the bad guy. He revels in his evilness, and it makes the film much better because of it.
I do recommend this film. While it won't give you anything new (I think every Three Musketeers movie ever made starts with the Musketeers being disbanded, and then a select few beating the evil cardinal.... yawn). The film is quite funny, and pretty entertaining from start to finish. Yes, it's a Disney movie, but you can do much worse.
