Review:

Tim: It is unbelievable to me that in 1950, this film didn't win a single Academy Award. Carol Reed should have at least taken Best Director. Ah well, The Third Man is still a very good movie.

This is a classic thriller. Who is the third man? That is the question that leads us on a trip through Vienna searching for the truth that will help explain the death of Harry Lime.

This movie is very well made. The acting is all top notch, especially Joseph Cotton. Orson Welles plays a very small role, although his character is of the utmost importance.

The best part of the movie is the cinematography. It is quite stunning at times. The city of Vienna serves as the perfect backdrop for the story and the filmmakers adequately encompass the city and its sights into the film. The sewer location is especially enjoyable to watch, as is the ferris wheel conversation.

The Third Man is an intense thriller/film noir with a surprise twist and a good ending. It is a fine piece of filmmaking and well worth tracking down.
