Review:
Tim: The Texas Chainsaw Massacre is a decent enough horror film, but it doesn't offer anything spectacular. It definitely needs to be viewed with the 1974 original. It makes for an interesting comparison.

The updated film is pretty gory, but not too incredibly scary. Leatherface makes for a decent bad guy because he's somewhat realistic (strange people live out in the middle of Appalachia and such places, trust me, I know). He is decently evil, but not as frightening as some other horror film icons (I realize this is based on a true story, but Leatherface just can't compare to someone like Michael Myers or Freddy Krueger).

Jessica Biel is a surprisingly good horror film heroine. She actually manages to look scared as hell yet also kick some serious ass, all in the same film. However, it should also be mentioned that her biggest contribution (at least to the producers of the film, I'm sure) is the close ups of her running around. Typical.

I'd recommend any horror film fanatic should see this film, but if you're not the biggest fan of the genre, or if you've already seen the original, then you really aren't missing very much if you decide to pass this one by.
