Review:
Tim: This is a classic. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles appealed to a generation, and I remember vividly being obsessed with them. The live action film gives a slightly more grownup look, but kids will absolutely love it. TMNT is exciting, fun, and very often humorous. Watching the films years after it was first made, you see scenes that were normal in 1990 to young teens, but now seem quite silly. However, even the silly parts have a charming touch to them, as you'll laugh and remember the times ushering in the 90's.
Perhaps the most interesting aspect of the film are the turtles themselves. Jim Henson did a tremendous job with them, as you almost forget they aren't real. The task must have been daunting to create four giant ninja turtles that needed to not only talk, but bust out some impressive fighting skills as well: not to mention bringing to life the giant rat, Splinter. The five mutated animals blend in quite well with the humans around them, bringing to the film a lifelike quality (well, it's as realistic as a film about four giants ninja turtles can be, anyway).
