Review:

Tim: Superman is a pretty incredible superhero film. IT is amazingly well done and still stands up as a classic today. Christopher Reeve is an outstanding choice for Superman. He captures both the strength and charisma of Superman as well as the nerdy, clumsy Clark Kent. He pulls off both sides brilliantly.

Gene Hackman is a very good choice for Lex Luthor. He plays the maniacal villain quite well. His bumbling cohorts are humorous, but not the kind of people you'd normally associate with a criminal genius like Luthor.

Despite Richard Donner directing an amazing film, there a few parts of the movie that are ridiculous. Luthor's plot to destroy the San Andreas fault line with nuclear bombs is pretty absurd. Superman's remedy for the situation is also difficult to believe. However, what takes the B.S. cake is how Superman saves Lois Lane- by altering time itself. Please- this is really stupid.

For the most part, though, this is an excellent introduction of Superman into the late 20th century. The film spawned a number of sequels and stands up as an incredible action classic. Plus, if for no other reason, the film really makes the Superman theme song its own, and its incredible hearing it play in a full length movie.
