Review:
Tim: Strange Brew is a movie based on an SCTV skit from Canadian television. This only furthers my belief that many Canadians are weird. Sorry. Anyway, this film is also the debut film for both Rick Moranis and Dave Thomas. It was actually a pretty big hit for them in Canada. Way to go, guys.
This is honestly one of the most boring movies I've ever seen. Perhaps if I was Canadian, I might like it better. Unfortunately, (or fortunately, depending on how you look at it), I am not. Thus, I did not enjoy myself at all.
The film is simply not funny in the least. There were a few moments when I cracked a smile, but that was about it.
The most absurd part of the movie is that it is supposed to be a loose reworking of Shakespeare's Hamlet. It is bad enough for this film to be a disgrace, but to dishonor a masterpiece like Hamlet is unforgivable.
In an attempt to find some redeeming qualities, I will admit that the superdog scene at the end is pretty funny. However, that's all you will get from me. In the end, all I can say is- "this is a pretty awful movie, eh?"
