Review:
Tim: Starsky & Hutch is one of the most boring and slow movies I have ever seen. I never saw the original television series and if it is anything like this film, I don't ever want to see it. I suspect that it is more a failure in the update of the characters and the story than in the original itself. The action in this film is pathetic and the comedy is simply not funny at all.
Owen Wilson and Ben Stiller and good together like always, but this comes from familiarity with each other, rather than anything positive on the part of this movie. Even their chemistry cannot save this film. It should have been left buried as a 1970s television show. This has no business in the 21st century.
I am not so upset that Stiller and Wilson made such a bad film, but I am most angry that they dragged all their friends down with them. Snoop Dogg, Vince Vaughn, and Will Ferrell all have small roles in the film and are all cheapened as actors because of it.
To make matters even worse and to add insult to injury, the end of the film is ridiculous and disappointing. It is a fitting conclusion to a film that never should have been made. I wish Hollywood would take a lesson from this film and leave some projects alone. I know for a fact they will not, however, and we will be subject to more disappointing slop like this film. Avoid this bomb at all costs.
