Summary: Two down on their luck musicians (Tony Curtis, Jack Lemmon) inadvertantly witness a mobster massacre. To escape the killers (who want them dead), they dress in drag and join an all-women's band on a trip to Florida. There, one of them falls for the beautiful singer (Marilyn Monroe) of the band, but this threatens to ruin everything.

Review:

Tim: This is one of the most classic comedies of all time. It is truly absurd, not only the whoe gangster shooting, but everything that happens afterwards. Now I say absurd, but I also mean very, very funny.

Tony Curtis and Jack Lemmon make two extremely ugly women. however, this just makes the situation more humorous. As far as comedies go, this one isn't a laugh-out-loud funny film. It is more of a make-you-smile because of the ridiculous situations our heroes get themselves into.

Curtis is incredible in his performance. I liked him a great deal. Lemmon is a bit over-the-top, but he accounts for many of the film's funniest moments.

This is the first Marilyn Monroe film I'd ever seen. I am not a big fan of her at all, but I understand why so many people were obsessed with her- she has some unnameable quality that allows her stand out in every scene. No matter what's on screen, our eyes tend to move toward her. She doesn't have much to do besides act as sensual as possible.

Although this might not be incredibly funny (in the heavy laughing sense), this movie is enjoyable in a slapstick, absurd manner. Whatever your attitude toward the movie, it is required viewing for any movie lover. It holds up as one of the truly great comedies of all time.
