Review:

Tim: I've got to be the biggest sucker in the world. This is your typical, Hollywood produced, dumbed down action flick. This is a movie that would have been so easy to hate, and probably for good reason. However, I just found myself sucked in and enjoying myself. Despite all evidence to the contrary, this is a fairly good movie.

The cast is hugely responsible for my enjoyment. You have Michael Douglas as a veteran Secret Service agent, framed for an assassination attempt on the president. Kiefer Sutherland and Eva Longoria are fellow Secret Service agents, and Kim Basinger is the First Lady. Tell me that's not an exciting cast.

Yes, this is a quickly-produced, somewhat lower-class, cheap movie. I realize that. The thing is, movies about Secret Service agents and attempted assassinations are just so exciting. This movie is at least entertaining. Sure, there are a few absurd plot points and some strong need for suspension of disbelief. You will need to get over the fact that the movie occasionally looks heap, but the end result is that the movie is pure escapism, and will at least provide a couple hours of entertainment.

For fans of political action/thrillers, you might want to give this film a chance. It is not as good as In the Line of Fire or other assassination movies, but the film has a strong cast, and some days, that is good enough.
