Review:

Tim: The Scary Movie franchise gave us two crappy movies, but they both made money, so here we are once again. Surprisingly, this third film in the trilogy is actually better than the one before it, and may actually be better than the original. Still, there's not much to be proud of here. This is a stupid, inane movie.

The film's biggest strength is actually stepping away from spoofing the Scream movies. This one incorporates elements from The Ring, Signs, and The Matrix. If that doesn't make a lot of sense, that's because the plot is fairly nonsensical. There's really no logic involved in the film at all. These different storylines are held together by only the thinnest of threads. It's all completely ridiculous.

Anna Faris is once again back as Cindy. She's now a reporter and has a nephew. These both are absurd, but no one seems to care about that. I actually give Faris credit for sticking it out with this franchise. I think she grew a bit with the role (or as close to growth as is possible with a crap role like this). I also liked the addition of Charlie Sheen to the cast. He doesn't have a whole lot to do, but the guy has some series spoof credit (see Hot Shots, and it was fun seeing him here. Leslie Nielsen also makes an appearance, which again, ups the spoof cred of this film.

There's not really a whole lot of funny parts in this movie. The funniest moment has to be during a spoof of 8 Mile when Simon Rex throws up in a bathroom stall, and then you see a guy in there, going #2, with vomit all over him. That was actually the part I liked most about this movie. That is pretty sad. There's a few other good moments, but they are mashed together with absurd, cheap humor.

I will give this film some credit for weaving elements of so many movies together in a plot that almost, kind of made sense. You'd think that was nearly impossible, but they almost pulled it off. Of course, none of this makes for a very enjoyable viewing experience, but what are you going to do?

I've never been a fan of this franchise, and I never will. The films are all pretty terrible. I will give this movie some credit for not being quite as godawful as the previous film. Still, I pray that they end this at a trilogy. There's really no reason to make viewers suffer any more, right?
