Review:

Tim: I really didn't want to like this movie. For most of the movie, I didn't. However, the end manages to pull everything together in a surprisingly satisfying manner. I would have rated this lower, but I felt like this film was actually better than the first sequel. The thing that kills me about these movies is that they follow the same basic formula. Fortunately, the formula results in a halfway decent horror film. The producers can simply follow the formula for a countless amount of movies, making small tweaks here and there, and end up with something that is at least somewhat enjoyable.

The different tortures aren't nearly as creative as the original, but some thought did go into these. The film seems fairly bland until the end, when all the pieces fall into place, and we finally understand. This is the most satisfying and best part of the movie- so good in fact, that we can forgive the movie for all its shortcomings.

I have to say that the film ends in a fashion that suggests a downward trend for any future Saw movies (although to be honest, I thought the same thing about this film). I really don't see how they can keep this up. I have already heard talk of the third sequel, but I highly suspect this will represent the last high point for this horror franchise.
