Review:

Tim: This is a gritty, gruesome, gory, horror film. However, it is also unlike your typical horror flick in that it is original, intelligent, and unpredictable.

The killer here isn't a hacker or slasher, but is intelligent and relentlessly sadistic. He is meticulous in his murderous plots. You really need to see this movie. It has the same balance between intelligence and gore that was found in such contemporary classics like Seven.

Cary Elwes offers up some pretty horrible acting, but he manages to gain our respect and emotions toward his character, which makes the movie even more nervewracking. Danny Glover surprisingly offers very little to the film. He just doesn't make the impact he should.

Although Saw is pretty gory, the most gruesome and disgusting parts are wisely hidden from our view. This movie is very unlike the usual mindless, tired, and unfrightening horror movies that Hollywood constantly rolls out. This one packs a punch and will stay with you.
