Review:

Tim: I've never actually seen any of the Hotel Transylvania movies, so Puppy was my introduction to this world. Based on this short, I don't see any reason for me to go out of my way to see the films. I mean, this short film is okay, I guess. It's only five minutes long, so it's hard to feel much of anything in so short a time. It just felt like a pointless story. A boy gets a giant puppy and hijinks ensue. Not funny hijinks. Not even especially entertaining ones. This short film just felt like a big giant shoulder shrug.

There's nothing especially wrong with this film, but the story is just so weak. I can't help compare this to another short film about a dog that came out in 2017- The Secret Life of Kyle. Now, that is by no means a great short film, but it told a somewhat compelling story that had a satisfying conclusion. It felt like a worthwhile effort. This one feels like a lazily slapped together collection of moments, not a well defined story.

The animation was fine, nothing outstanding. There weren't really any funny parts, except for things that the most easily impressionable and easily entertained viewers will laugh at. This film was harmless, but Puppy felt about as generic as they come.
