Review:

Tim: Marvel's fourth One-Shot is the longest and most elaborate. It's also the best one yet. Part of this is just because you can do more with a longer run time, part of it is because Marvel One-Shot: Agent Carter is a pretty compelling short film, complete with some character development, and underdog story, and some suspenseful moments as well. I really enjoyed this short, and I look forward to many more short films from Marvel in the future.

Hayley Atwell did a great job in Captain America: The First Avenger as Agent Peggy Carter. She's strong, determined, and has integrity. In a movie genre with far too few strong female characters, she's a great character and role model. Here, we pick up her story after the events of that film. She's working in the Strategic Scientific Reserve (SSR), and deals with a sexist boss and a general unwillingness of those around her to value her in any way. Facing such blatant workplace sexism is a little shocking for us today (not that it doesn't happen today, but it doesn't happen so out-in-open and in-your-face like we see here. For that reason, we immediately side with Atwell and root for her. That helps engage us in this short film.

Atwell does another good job playing this character, and suggesting it would be a good idea to continue this character in the Marvel universe. Bradley Whitford does a good job being unlikable as her misogynist boss. It was nice seeing Dominic Cooper once again as Howard Stark, and it was fun seeing Neal McDonough very briefly as Dum Dum Dugan.

Overall, this was a fun Marvel short that revealed a little more about Peggy Carter after Captain America disappeared at the end of that film. It gave a strong female character a chance to kick some butt and show off. I really enjoyed this short, and I eagerly await future films.
