Review:

Tim: Kitty Foiled is a decent enough Tom & Jerry cartoon. These all feel somewhat similar since they're straightforward and mostly follow the same formula. It's always somewhat entertaining to watch Tom's antics and Jerry's close calls and escapes. The short film is only 8 minutes, so it's fairly tame and easy to watch.

The one aspect of this one that was different is that Jerry teams up with a canary. This might seem like a small addition to the normal formula, but it feels like it changes a lot. It's not just cat vs. mouse, but now the mouse and a small bird work together to survive. I found that change refreshing and it opens up new avenues for different gags. Some of the short feels like the same- Tom is chasing Jerry or the bird, for example. But then, the other steps in to help. I found that fairly entertaining.

I watched a lot of the Tom & Jerry shorts when I was kid, so there's definitely a nostalgia aspect built in. I had fun watching this with my son and daughter. We'd watched the live action/animated movie last year, so they had some familiarity with the characters, but this might have been the first old school short they saw. I think they enjoyed it- the action moves so quickly that there's not much downtime. These films are definitely more violent than what they are making today, but I thought this was was okay.

In the end, I liked Kitty Foiled. It was an entertaining short, a solid Tom & Jerry entry.
