Review:

Tim: This early short documentary is interesting to watch. It is a time-lapse movie of the demolition of the Star Theatre. The movie starts in real time and we watch the hustle and bustle of the street in front of the Star. Quickly, the building starts getting torn down, and we watch as the crews slowly pull the building apart. It is interesting to watch how systematically it is done, and we see a month's work of work in under a minute. The end of the film reverts to real time, and we can look at the whole gap where the building used to be.

To be frank, I don't actually have a whole lot to say about this early gimmick film. It is certainly interesting to see a building torn down via time-lapse technology. I am willing to bet this was stunning sight for audiences of 1901. The movie may have been mesmerizing. By today's standards, it is pretty ordinary because we've all seen so many similar videos over the years. I did appreciate knowing that time-lapse photography dates to at least 1901- I did not know it was so old. That was a good thing to learn from this film.

Other than that, I don't have much. I liked seeing the building torn down and the interesting look at life well over 100 years ago. It's an quick movie, so that is good. Sometimes I have lots of good things to say about a movie, sometimes I don't have much.
