Review:

Tim: I usually enjoy Pixar's shorts, although I believe their original shorts tend to be better than the Feature-related ones. Dante's Lunch takes the dog from Coco and gives him a very short adventure. He finds a bone, but it seems to have a mind of its own. He chases it through the town before eventually discovering the truth. I don't know, it was fine- it was a perfectly harmless little short. Watching it with Coco I guess lets you see a minor character in a slightly bigger light, but it's not like this short provides much additional insight. Dante is a dog and he's chasing a bone. Not exactly cutting edge stuff.

I watched the short with my three year-old. His attention lasted the two minutes, but I wouldn't say he was a big fan. He asked a bunch of questions about what was going on. When the short ended, he got up and ran off to play. It made zero impression on him.

I suppose it's good that Pixar makes shorts like this. There's certainly nothing wrong with Dante's Lunch, but it was ultimately too lightweight to make any difference at all.
