Review:

Tim: It's really hard to know what to think about this horror comedy short. The film is comprised of footage from both Nosferatu and Frankenstein and we have a narrator making wisecracks and jokes about it. That's really all this is.

Now, I have to admit, a few of the jokes were kind of funny. Some of the phrases are so common now that they're just part of the social consciousness. I have no idea how cutting edge this was in 1932, but I'm assuming most of the puns used were fairly common even back then. I suppose there's something clever about riffing on films. So, I do want to stress that a few times, this short made me laugh. Now, most of the 10 minute run time isn't particularly funny and probably wasn't all that funny in 1932.

One of my big complaints here is that this film just recycled footage from previous films. The jokes are the short's contribution to something new, but rehashing old films isn't really a great pastime. This short just felt unnecessary.

So, I usually like to say a little more about these short films, but Boo doesn't really give us a lot to work with. It's harmless, occasionally funny, and thankfully fairly short. I can't claim to have enjoyed the film all that much, but it has a few decent moments. Still, this is a film you can easily skip.
