Review:

Tim: This is another Merrie Melodies cartoon short. I've seen a number of these, and this one is probably lower middle of the pack. The animation was fine, the songs weren't terrible. It's hard to get invested in a story about a bunch of bugs. This short film was broken down into a series of smaller scenes, none of which are all that interesting. They move at such a frenetic pace, it's hard to enjoy any one of them before it jumps to the next one.

The most noteworthy thing about this is the focus on one of the insects being Bing Crosby- he even sings like him. This angered the real Crosby, who sued Warner Brothers for depicting him as a coward insect. It;s pretty funny, but it's obviously a bit of a dig at Crosby. I don't think his lawsuits went anywhere. That's at least something interesting about this film outside of the short itself.

This film is fine, but it's really not very good. I watched this with my five year-old son and he wasn't a fan. He endured the 8 minutes with me, but he wasn't engaged or entertained. This short won't take up a lot of your time, but there's much better ones out there.
