Review:

Tim: The first two Rush Hour movies were by no means spectacular. They relied heavily on the humorous interaction between Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker, and threw just enough action in there to satisfy viewers. These were not works of art, but they did enough right to be enjoyable. The third film, however, has lost that charm. We’ve seen Chan and Tucker together, and what was funny once has now become old. This is the least funny film, with the weakest plot, and mostly boring action sequences. Yes, there are a few bright moments here and there, but mostly, this is all recycled from what we’ve already seen. This is the low point in the franchise.

Chan and Tucker do occasionally have a nice moment together, but the formulaic plot has only grown tiresome. We know there will be a few jokes about their differences, at some point they will get very mad at each other, and then reunite to stop the bad guys at the end. This worked for the first two films, so nothing was changed or modified, except to move the film to Paris. This isn’t wholly void of enjoyment, but it’s nothing new, either.

Rush Hour 3 represents the point when the franchise falls apart. I doubt they will get everyone back for fourth film, and that is honestly the best thing. The first two films can still be enjoyable in their own right, but this movie pulls down their legacy just a bit. It is not a terrible film, but it is not up to par with the previous entries.
