Review:
Tim: Rush Hour 2 is a successful sequel. Chris Tucker and Jackie Chan together make any movie infinitely more enjoyable and even if every sequel is slightly weaker, I could watch twenty Rush Hour movies, as long as Tucker and Chan are free to be their hilarious selves.
This time, the plot is even more implausible than the original, but like that film, the story doesn't matter. Tucker and Chan once again crackle with humore. Although this film is not as fresh as the original, it is still pretty funny. I wish it had not gone the typical sequel route by simply switching the jokes from one partner to the other. Watch the film to understand, it has been done in many other sequels and just seems like a cheap way to get a laugh. Luckily, there are enough new jokes to keep us entertained. Watch especially for Chan's "I'm a player." line- this is really brilliant.
Once again, Chan entertains us with gravity defying acts and impressive acrobatic moves- like sliding through a teller's window or dangling from a bamboo structure.
Although the film suffers a bit from the typical sequel problems, Brett Ratner directs a good enough film to keep the franchise alive and waarant the need for another sequel. We'll see if that is what happens, and I hope the quality stays the same.
