Review:

Tim: I really, really like The Rundown. It is a fun, action packed adventure movie that never takes itself too seriously. It smartly mixes action, comedy, and quite a few thrills. The film is just so much fun to watch.

Enough can't be said of Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson. This is the film that allowed him to first show some real promise as an action hero. Early in the film, there is a great cameo with Arnold Schwarzenegger, as if to pass the action hero torch to Johnson. This is a great scene. Johnson balances truly being an action hero with the ability to be very funny as well.

The film is helped immensely by Seann William Scott. He is extremely funny, and interacts so well with Johnson. The chemistry between these two actors is what makes this movie. They are so funny together, and I loved every second of them on screen. Their dislike for each other makes this movie fun. The supporting cast of Rosario Dawson (decent in a smaller role) and Christipher Walken (a bit too over-the-top, but okay) works well also.

The Rundown has some great action and comedy scenes. Among my favorite scenes involves the monkeys- this is hilarious. The big "action" finale at the end is a bit too much, and this is where the film crosses into the far-too-cheesy arena. However, the movie still does enough right to be a very solid entry into the action adventure genre, and remains one of those movies I just love to watch.
