Summary: A young inventor (Ewan McGrego) sets off to work for the world's greatest inventor. Unfortunately, he discovers that times have changed, and new sleazy CEO (Greg Kinnear) is preparing to phase out the old robots, which would doom them to a life of rust and slowly moving towards the scrap heap.
Review:
Tim: I wish that I hadn't enjoyed this movie. It would have been so easy to focus on the flaws, the lame story, and a lack of originality. However, Robots surprises on multiple levels. The story is engaging, the animation is surprisingly strong, and the voice cast is excellent. I found myself truly enjoying the movie, and was able to overlook the flaws that are occasionally apparent.
To be fair, this film is not on the level of the Toy Story movies, but it still manages to be fairly entertaining. A great deal of the film's enjoyment comes from the voice cast. Ewan McGregor does a superb job, and is aided by excellent work by Greg Kinnear, Halle Berry, Robin Williams, and many, many others.
Robots is a film that children will love, but adults will find it fun as well. It's not the perfect movie, but there are far worse films out there.
