Summary: In Alexandria, Virgina, in 1971, schools began to desegregate, starting with T.C. Williams High. Tempers flare when Coach Boone, a black football coach (Denzel Washington), is appointed head coach, over the former white head coach(Will Patton). Now, the school's football team, the Titans, are faced with a desegregated team- and tension between the black players and the white players. To make matters worse, the whole town is inflamed with racism and hate. Now, Coach Boone must not only prepare his team for the battles on the field, but prepare them for life off the field as well. As the Titans finally come together, the whole town of Alexandria will learn a great deal about people with dissimilar skin colors, as racial barriers start to break down. Based on a true story.
Review:
Tim: Remember the Titans is destined to become a classic football movie. Denzel Washington gives a powerful performance as Coach Boone, and really carries much of the movie on his shoulders. Will Patton is actually quite good in this film- his performance is an amazing one, and shouldn't be overlooked. The young actors in this film bring so much to the screen, and help in so many places. This film is powerful- it will leave a part of you changed after viewing it. Any film involving Jerry Bruckheimer (producer) has to be excellent.
I definitely recommend this film if you're in the mood for a real movie. This film is packed with drama, exciting football scenes, very smart bits of comedy, and powerful performances by all members of the cast. It is rare to find a movie like this one. I definitely recommend seeing this film- it is simply outstanding. Remember the Titans is one film that you won't soon forget.
