Summary: The year is 2057 and the earth is nearly poisoned by pollution. Scientists had previously heated up the planet Mars, and sent algae over to grow, in the hope of producing oxygen so the planet could sustain human life. However, the oxygen levels have dropped, so a team has been sent there to discover why. The team, led by Carrie Ann-Moss undergoes problem after problem and the trek to Mars suddenly becomes not only the need to complete the mission, but simply to get home.

Review:

Tim: This movie was terrific. It was much better than Mission to Mars. Val Kilmer is excellent in the film, and is actually quite funny. Carrie Ann-Moss follows her performance in The Matrix with another amazing job. The supporting cast is very powerful with Bratt, Sizemore, and Stamp. Red Planet is an exilirating movie, with incredible special effects. The plot is very suspenseful, and will keep you entertained. While the story does have its unbelievable parts (a robot that has a combat mode- what, did the scientists figure the team might meet up with alien Bruce Lees or something?), the story is more often than not, quite sound.

Red Planet was a very welcome surprise for me. The acting was incredible and the special effects made you feel you were right there on Mars as well. The film features many problems the crew undergoes, and each is fascinating and completely interesting. I found myself enthralled in this movie(and actually missed an appointment I had by 53 minutes!). This movie is downright terrific. I truly recommend seeing it.
