Review:

Tim: Pulp Fiction is most certainly a movie in a class of its own. It is by far the best film of Quentin Tarantino's career (which is still true today). The movie is so stylish and so cool. Tarantino enlists an amazing cast and then allows them to all give career performances.

Samuel L. Jackson is particular is at his best as the quick, foul mouthed hitman with faith. John Travolta resurrected his career by playing Vincent. Travolta and Jackson sparkle on screen together- the scenes of their conversations are by far the highlights of the film. The "Royale with cheese" scene is one of the best and funniest of all time.

Bruce Willis is good, although not on the same level as Travolta and Jackson. He has much less to do and not as good writing to work with. His crazy day, however, is very enjoyable to watch and its climax is as funny as it is disgusting. His final scene, with Ving Rhames is a classic in its own right.

Uma Thurman is nearly unrecognizeable (at least at first) with black hair. She is good, but her scenes (besides the dance number) are the most boring and slow parts of the film. I did not enjoy her in the film at all.

Tarantino defined himself by this film, as did in one way or another, most of his cast. You simply need to see this movie for its cultural significance, but more importantly, because it is so enjoyable.
