Summary: A remake of the 1960 Alfred Hitchcock suspense masterpiece, Psycho is very much updated. Marion Crane (Anne Heche) steals $400,000 from her boss and flees towards California. She stops at the Bates Motel, owned by Norman Bates (Vince Vaughn), who loves there with his "mother." Marion is murdered, and her disappearance sparks questions from her sister (Julianne Moore) and a private investigator (William H. Macy), who try to unravel the chilling mystery behind the Bates Motel.
Review:
Tim: This film attempted to be chilling and suspenseful, but wasn't. Vaughn and Heche both acted wonderfully, but there was a feeling surrounding the whole movie that just didn't appeal to me. The flow of the movie was interrupted and oftentimes choppy. The film was decent, but far, far from spectacular.
The film had a major letdown of an ending. I found myself asking- that was it? I can't imagine Alfred Hitchcock approving the blaise ending of this film.
Psycho tries hard to be excellent, but simply isn't much better than run of the mill. I wouldn't recommend renting this film, but seeing it once wouldn't hurt you too bad. I wouldn't recommend watching this film unless you're been dying to see it, and even then, you'll be in for a big disappointment.
