Review:

Tim: The cop drama has been done over and over again. I'm typically a fan of these dramatic thrillers, but in this case, I felt like I'd seen this movie before. There is very little new here. Yes, the cast is impressive and they turn in strong performances, but the movie can't shake the feeling that you've been there, done that already. It isn't unique enough and will soon get lost in the hundreds of films all too similiar to it.

The one big strength is the cast. Edward Norton is his typical strong self, although this wasn't one of my favorite roles. He doesn't have much opportunity to really showcase his talent, and that is too bad. He does get a few great moments with Colin Farrell. Farrell is believable as a cop and gives a complex, multilayered performance. Farrell and Norton are enjoyable together. There are some good supporting roles as well. Namely, Jon Voight is quite good. The entire cast works well together.

The story is at least engaging. It is so interesting to watch as a corrupt event works to tear down a family of cops in New York City. This mostly works, but there are some major flaws here as well. The story progresses at a good pace, but it feels like logic and common sense went out the window to achieve this. The movie's events feel a little too convienent, which takes us out of the movie. It is hard to believe what we see. The movie also tries very hard to be a gritty, true-life cop story. However, some of the grittiness goes a bit too far.

Pride and Glory does have a few decent moments, but as a whole, just doesn't work very well. The movie is far too forgettable, and simply unravels as it progresses. The movie's conclusion is far too weak, sadly fizzling out instead of ending with a bang. This film is more disappointing than anything else.
