Summary: After an albino teenager nicknamed Powder (Sean Patrick Flannery) is found living in his grandparent's basement after they pass away, he is forced to leave his secluded life and try to fit in at a local high school. However, his looks and the fact that he is a genius set him apart from the other students.

Review:

Tim: Despite its many flaws, Powder manages to be a pretty decent movie. I really like the concept of Jeremy (aka Powder) and the powers and abilities that he had. The human intellect is still so mysterious to us, and its not a bad idea to stop and think every so often about the unlimited possibilities that exist in all of us. Besides being fairly entertaining, this film makes you think about that kind of stuff- its similar to Phenomenon in that aspect.

The cast itself is not of the greatest caliber. Jeff Goldblum is the best actor here, and he is only decent here. He plays a similar role to that in most of his other pictures, including Independence Day and Jurassic Park. Its funny how some actors just keep playing the same role in different movies. Ashley Judd is a good example of this, but I'll keep the conversation focused on Powder and on Jeff Goldblum. I guess it worked for the guy here, so keep it going, right?

In the end, Powder is a good family movie. It at times is slow, boring, and ridiculous, but you hear me make those complaints about a thousand movies. The best aspect of this film is that it does manage to evoke some emotion in you. That, coupled with making you think about topics like the vast frontier of human intelligence, and you've satisfied your deep-thinking quota for the month.
