However, the reporter and the socialite hit it off, threatening to unleash craziness upon everyone.
Review:
Tim: This is a classic romantic comedy. You have a love rectangle (triangle + 1), witty dialogue, and a surprising end. The film also manages to be a pretty interesting commentary on classism.
James Stewart is very good in a role that won him an Academy Award for Best Actor. He is good throughout but his drunk scenes are outstanding. He plays a very convincing and hilarious inebriated person. THe best scene in the movie is when he and Grant talk while Stewart is drunk after the party. It is just such a fun scene.
Cary Grant is decent in the film. Throughout much of the film, I thought his acting to be rather weak, but he redeems himself in a few remarkable moments near the end.
Katherine Hepburn is very good as well, as a woman caught between three men and her feelings about herself. She is very enjoyable to watch.
The Philadelphia Story is a fun movie. Stewart and Grant are so much fun to watch together on screen. Stewart can play any role better than most, and his more romantic roles are right up there with the best of them. You'll really enjoy this movie, and for romantic comedy fans, this is a must-see.
