Review:

Tim: Anything with Denzel Washington in it at least deserves a viewing, and I was pretty excited about this film. I must say, however, that it was not exactly as I expected.

The plot of the film is fundamentally this- Washington gets into a huge mess and spends the rest of the film trying desperately to get out of it, all the while circumstances make his situation worse. Initially, I wouldn't have anticipated liking such a film. However, you get caught up in the movie, and can't help but wondering if Washington is going to get out of the hole he's in before its completely covered up and he's as good as dead. It is actually pretty entertaining to watch as problem after problem after problem occurs throughout the film, all working against the lead character.

The action and suspense of the film are its strongest points. There is some crazy love triangle between Washington, his "girlfriend" and his ex-wife. This takes up a great deal of time explaining it all. This is the film's weakest point. We don't really care so much about the women in Washington's life (they aren't that interesting).

Out of Time will never be thought of as one of Washington's better films. It is flaw-ridden and oftentimes more silly than it ought to be. What this movie does do, however, is keep its audience guessing and anticipating the next move or plot twist. This isn't everything a movie should be, but its worth seeing once.
