Review:

Tim: This is just a completely unnecessary remake. The original screenplay wasn't even rewritten! I felt like this whole movie was rushed, especially to take advantage of being released on June 6, 2006 (06/06/06), get it? The whole movie feels like a cheap gimmick, and suffers because of that.

I genuinely did like the casting of both Liev Schreiber and Julia Stiles. I think they are both quite talent younger actors. However, they have almost no chemistry together. I didn't believe they were married or in love for a single second. They just don't work together. Sadly, they don't quite work alone, either. I didn't buy either one of them in this film. Seamus Davey-Fitzpatrick, besides having a mouthful of a name, gives a fairly good performance. Like so many horror films, the young child just needs to look creepy. Mia Farrow is surprisingly frightening. The rest of the cast is decent, but not worth mentioning.

I had a very hard time getting into this movie. I was bored almost continually throughout the film. I never jumped or felt even a pang of fear or suspense. This is another example of a remake that doesn't try to set itself apart from the original, and so, it never escapes its shadow. This is just a forgettable movie that represents only a waste of your time. Don't be fooled.
