Review:

Tim: I am typically a big Seth Rogen fan. He has made some hilarious movies over the years, and I was looking forward to this one. It seemed like a smaller, but very funny movie. I couldn't have been more wrong. This is an atrocious, terrible piece of crap. I don't know if I laughed a single time. This is one of the stupidest comedies I have seen in a long time. It was awful.

The biggest problem is that the movie simply isn't funny. The jokes fall flat, and are more often than not offensive or ridiculous. The whole film is just such a lame effort that it is nearly impossible to find anything of value here. This movie is a train wreck, and a complete disappointment.

Seth Rogen seems only halfway interested in this film. He gives a decent effort, but the script he had to work with did him no favors. While Rogen's shtick very often works, this film represents the other side- how quickly he can become tiresome and annoying. Comedic actors have a tendency to get old very quickly (for example, it is stunning how quickly Will Ferrell went from hilarious to has-been). I wonder if this movie is the tipping point, where Rogen has given us everything he's got, and we can't shake the feeling that we've seen this all before. I hope not, because I think he is very talented- it just didn't work here.

The supporting cast is not much better. Ray Liotta was a complete waste. I have to question his presence here- there was absolutely no need for him to come down to this level. I was disappointed in his involvement here. Michael Pena looked hilarious, but every time he opened his mouth, I couldn't help but roll my eyes. I was also sad to see Anna Faris in a stupid, forgettable role. I think she has some talent, but she can't seem to break out of these awful roles. The entire cast here was lackluster, to say the least.

I am typically a fan of these types of comedies. I really thought I would enjoy it, but Observe and Report is a joyless, mean-spirited, unfunny piece of garbage. It is one of the worst comedies I have seen in quite a while. I found almost nothing to appreciate or like here. There's not much else to say, except that this movie was a complete and total miss.
