Review:
Tim: This is an interesting little film, and Courteney Cox gains some indie cred for playing against type in this confusing independent film. This movie is in the vein of Mulholland Drive, both well made films that keep us guessing until the end- and way past. The movie ends completely open-ended, offering us no answers, but the opportunity to debate and discuss. If you're like me, you will finish the movie, ask yourself what just happened, and read about it on the internet, strongly dislike the ambiguity, and then, finally, accept it.
Courteney Cox is surprisingly good. This is a complex, emotional role that is completely unexpected from what we anticipate from Cox. She is vulnerable, emotional, and disturbed. She brings us into the mystery, painting a picture of confusion, paranoia, and deception. The supporting cast is decent, but none are particularly strong.
The reason to seek out this low budget, relatively unknown film is to see something different from the linear, expected Hollywood film, where everything is wrapped up nicely in the end. This is a film that will cause you to think to debate, to question, and to wonder. It isn't the type of movie you're watch over and over again, but one time will at least entertain you.
November is a twisting, confusing trip down the rabbit hole where very little makes sense, and we're left with more questions than answers. If you don't mind ambiguity, and can deal with a constant state of suspense and confusion, then this is the perfect movie for you. For more mainstream moviegoers, this film will be a good stretch for you.
