Review:

Tim: This is an extremely funny and dramatic film. I did not expect too much, but I was highly surprised. The film is touching in ways you do not expect. Tom Hanks is great fun to watch in the middle of a hectic life filled with crazy characters, from his parents to the women in his life, to his clients and boss at work. It is this dynamic that keeps us interested in the movie, and actively engaged from start to finish.

As I mentioned, a great deal of the credit for this film goes to Hanks. He attacks the role with energy and enthusiasm, and that translates on screen. He is fun to watch, and we have fun watching him. In addition, the relationship between Hanks and Jackie Gleason is fantastic. The success of the movie depends on this, and despite some initial worries, the two hit it off and have some very funny moments together- and near the end, some truly touching ones.

While this film is not perfect, it manages to start out at a decent pace, meander around for a while, and then finally hit its stride as the film turns away from comedy and into extremely dramatic territory. The film is funny, touching, and memorable. While not the greatest film, it tells a very good story and will entertain you. I recommend it.
